In the 16th edition of Colour Class, we venture into the serene surroundings of North Zealand to explore a beautifully renovated mid-century terraced house. This vibrant home belongs to Trine, Montana Furniture’s Marketing & Brand Director, and her young daughter.

The mission was clear: to infuse the house with as much colour as possible, ensuring her daughter grows up surrounded by vibrant hues. The small children's room is no exception.

In this Colour Class, we explore how a bold pink palette transforms a small children’s room into a cosy and harmonious haven, demonstrating the impact of fearless colour choices.

Despite its modest size, the room feels much larger thanks to the consistent use of pink throughout. The warm tone brings a sense of cosiness and an inviting atmosphere where creativity can flourish.

Location: For this Colour Class, we journey to North Zealand, a tranquil residential area embraced by nature stretching as far as the eye can see. This time, we explore a stylishly renovated mid-century terraced house, home to Trine, Montana Furniture's Marketing & Brand Director, and her young daughter.

Mission: Trine's vision was clear: to infuse the house with as much colour as possible, ensuring her daughter grows up surrounded by vibrant hues. The small children's room is no exception.

Colours: The small children’s room in Trine and her daughter’s home feels like a nostalgic echo of childhood joy, wrapped in a warm and inviting pink hue. Every surface – walls, ceiling, and woodwork – is painted in the same soft shade, creating a serene and comforting atmosphere. This bold colour choice unifies the space, allowing the few carefully selected pieces of furniture to stand out.

By the window sits a cot, bathed in the gentle light reflected by the pink walls. Beside it stands a Ruby-pink Montana Free shelf, blending seamlessly with the room’s monochromatic palette. It houses treasures and keepsakes from Trine’s own childhood – teddies, small books, and toys, now given a new life in their new home.

A practical addition to the space is the functional Colour Box on wheels, used for her daughter’s laundry. Its light blue hue adds a subtle contrast, highlighting the soft tones while introducing a playful yet practical detail.

A Monterey desk in a deep, dark green shade provides a striking contrast to the pink surroundings. Though the desk is still a little too large for her daughter’s tiny hands, it patiently awaits the day when she can sit and unleash her creativity – perhaps painting, crafting, or drawing. Above the desk, a notice board already holds a collection of small drawings and cherished memories.

Despite its modest size, the room feels much larger thanks to the consistent use of pink throughout. The warm tone brings a sense of cosiness and an inviting atmosphere where creativity can flourish. The room showcases how bold colour choices can create both harmony and visual calm, even in compact spaces. It’s a reminder that colour can be used fearlessly to craft a space that is playful, nostalgic, and brimming with potential for future adventures.
