Colour Class #2 — Crafting a personal and practical home office with Montana x Color Connaisseur

In our second round of Colour Class, we venture into the home of Herle and Rasmus, the visionary founders of Finders Keepers. Our mission: crafting a home office that seamlessly marries practicality with personal flair. The interior design aims to meet their storage requirements and showcase Rasmus' cherished heirloom desk. Our challenge lies in ensuring that the home office and adjoining living room visually intertwine, all while infusing the home office with vibrancy and inspiration..

Notice how more of the same can turn into less. The green ceiling could have seemed overwhelming, but by introducing more green elements, the room ends up feeling calm yet energetic.

Location: In the home of Herle and Rasmus, founders of Finders Keepers. They reside in a classic Copenhagen apartment adorned with beautiful stucco details and lofty ceilings.

Mission: To create a home office that is not only practical but also vibrant and beautiful, as it extends from the couple's living room. The interior design should address their storage challenges and accommodate Rasmus' heirloom of a desk.

Colours: To ensure that the office and the adjoining living room, separated only by a large sliding door, visually connect, the cream-coloured walls and light blue woodwork of the living room extend into the office. However, the similarities stop there. While the living room exudes tranquillity in soft yellow tones, the office ceiling takes on a bold and vibrant green hue. A colour that might easily become overwhelming, but in this bright, high-ceilinged space, it can be carried effortlessly.

To balance the intense green colour, we complement it with a large Montana cabinet in a calm deep green, curtains in a delicate shade of green, and details from art prints. The old desk is visually integrated with the classic Kevi office chair in Mads Nørgaard stripes and a brown Living Things plant box that mimics the desk's colour.

Everything is now in visual colour harmony, but as the couple isn't afraid to shake things up a bit, we add an extra colour to the large Montana shelf by choosing the beautiful Iris as a purple display section for some of Herle's flea market finds.
