London-based French artist and designer Camille Walala is the founder of Studio Walala. She is known for her ambitious, extensive, and colourful interventions in public spaces, where she turns dull landscapes and buildings into impressive Memphis-inspired colour patterns.

”It was such an honour creating a design for Montana’s 40th anniversary. I had a beautiful and bold canvas to play with on their factory. I was inspired by their iconic modular shapes, and it was both a joy and a challenge to work with Montana's colour palette developed by Margrethe Odgaard,” says Camille Walala.

The Walala project has been created in collaboration with Dutch multinational paints and coatings company AkzoNobel.

Montana is equivalent with colours and has been since the very beginning. With this mural we wish to create a landmark, celebrating colours and putting our Danish production facilities on the map.

Creating a landmark with colours

Our new tagline is Let’s create playful spaces and we want to nudge the world to use more colours – but we can’t do this without walking the talk ourselves, we needed to transform our rather dull looking factory into a colourful statement – just as colourful and playful as the furniture we make inside of it”, says CEO Joakim Lassen, son of late founder Peter Lassen.
