Paradigm Colour Block Sofa — A playful expression of modularity and colour
In stores now
Paradigm Colour Block sofa is a limited-edition interpretation of the Paradigm sofa, where bold colour compositions become an integral part of the design's architectural expression.
Through carefully curated textile combinations, the edition accentuates the sofa's geometric form and modular flexibility. Contrasting tones and colour-blocked surfaces create a dynamic visual identity while maintaining the soft, tactile comfort that defines the Paradigm series.
In stores from Sepetember 2026 – June 2027.
Curated textile and colour combinations
Rooted in Montana's longstanding passion for colour, Paradigm Colour Block explores colour as a spatial and atmospheric element rather than a purely decorative feature. The carefully balanced compositions shape the perception of form, depth, and movement within a space.
Each plane is assigned its own tone, emphasising edges, volumes and transitions. The Block Colour approach sharpens the geometry, creating a graphic and sculptural expression that shifts with the perspective.
The Steelcut Colour Block option is defined by a curated selection of five Kvadrat Steelcut textiles. Carefully chosen to work both in contrast and in harmony, the colours are composed as a balanced palette – each tone distinct, yet designed to connect seamlessly across module.
Erik Rasmussen (1930–1984)
Architect Erik Rasmussen (1930–1984) designed the sofa for Paustian in 1969 while working as a graphic designer at the company. Paustian had requested a modular, sculptural, and minimalist piece where form and textile could truly take center stage.
Erik Rasmussen responded with the sofa’s distinctive rounded seat and backrest. Today, his design is celebrated for its sculptural relationship to space, leaving a lasting impact on modern Scandinavian design. His original modular sofa now lives on as Paradigm, a future-proof system that continues his visionary legacy while aligning with Montana Furniture’s commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design.
