Montana 12 mm modules

When you are building your composition the following information and recommendations are important for a durable and lasting composition that complies with Montana’s guarantee and our rules of use.

General information

Montana is a system with pilot holes in all sides and shelves. Pilot holes are potential positions for components, shelves, doors, drawers etc. The distance between the pilot holes is 5.7 cm. 

If a composition is made with modules in different widths, you need to pay attention to the fact that a single module measuring 69.6 cm is not the same as two half modules 2 x 35.4 cm = 70.8 cm.

Modules with suspension

Mounted shelving modules in height 69.6 cm (*12), 46.8 cm (*8) and 35.4 cm (*6) and depth 20, 30 and 38 cm can carry a load in or on the module of up to 40 kg, where the composition on the wall and the mounting of the module allow this. Modules in depth 46.8 cm can be loaded with max 20 kg. Mounted shelving in height multiples of 24 cm (*4), 18.3 cm (*3) and 12.6 cm (*2) can carry less weight and should therefore only be loaded with up to 10 kg.

Module top, bottom, and shelves in width 69.6 cm (*12) should carry a load of max 3 kg to avoid deflection. If module top, bottom and shelves are reinforced with a support rail (SS10) they can carry a max load of 10 kg. The support rail (SS10) is lacquered in the same colour as the module. The load capacity of a module in the 69,6 width with suspension and no vertical divider is 10 kg. A support rail (SS10) cannot improve the maximum load capacity of these modules due to their construction.

Modules on plinth

Shelving units on plinths in height 69.6 (*12), 46.8 (*8) and 35.4 cm (*6), in depths of 20, 30 and 38 cm can carry a load of up to 60 kg. Shelving units on plinths in height 24 (*4), 18.3 (*3) and 12.6 cm (*2), as well as depth 46.8 cm, can carry less weight and should therefore be loaded with no more than 40 kg.

When modules are mounted on a plinth and are stacked it is recommended that the fourth module height-wise is mounted with suspension rails to comply with rules for load capacity, stability, and safety. Stacked modules are placed on four anti-slip patches placed in the corners of the lower module which secures the stability of the stacked module. For modules in width 69.6 cm, all the above applies under the prerequisite that they have a vertical divider throughout.

Modules on legs

Modules on legs carry a load of up to 50 kg, but it depends on the layout of the module. The maximum height for units on legs is two modules and the maximum load for a set of legs is 75 kg.

Modules in width 69.6 cm with legs must be reinforced with a support rail (SS60) under the bottom to avoid deflection when the module is loaded and in use. It is recommended to stack only two modules when they are mounted with legs. The third module, height-wise, should be mounted with suspension rails to comply with rules for load capacity, stability, and safety. Mounting of legs on modules in width 69.9 cm without a support rail (SS60) is at your own risk and voids any guarantee from Montana. For modules in width 69.6 cm, all of the above applies under the prerequisite that they have a vertical divider throughout.

Modules on castors

Modules in width 69.6 cm (*12) on castors must be reinforced with a support rail (SS60) under the bottom to avoid deflection when the module is loaded and in use. It is recommended to stack modules in depth 30 cm and 38 to a max height of 105 cm. Modules in depth 46.8 cm can be stacked to a maximum of 139.2 cm while complying with rules for load capacity, stability and safety. Mounting of castors on modules in width 69.9 cm without a support rail (SS60) is at your own risk and voids any guarantee from Montana. For modules in width 69,6 cm, all the above applies under the prerequisite that they have a vertical divider throughout.
